Felipe is a special dog that would love to make your acquaintance! He was rescued from Tijuana, Mexico as part of our international rescue efforts about a year ago. Since then, Felipe has been waiting patiently for a family to call his own. Here's the scoop on Felipe... Don't let his rough past fool you, Felipe has excellent house manners. He lives in our Shelter Directors office and hasn't touched a thing. He is also completely house-broken and will wait patiently to go potty outside. Felipe is easy-going and not rambunctious. He enjoys playing but we've never seen him get overstimulated. He loves soft toys, especially with squeekers. He doesn't guard his food or toys and is happy to share with you. Felipe also doesn't get up on furniture unless invited (pretty amazing, right?). Felipe has a really great temperament and energy level that would make him a wonderful companion for anyone. Whether you're a couch potato or an avid runner, he's happy to do what you do. Felipe doesn't have separation anxiety and is totally fine on his own for up to 8-9 hours a day. So if you can't spend all day with him, don't worry! Felipe walks very nicely on leash and doesn't pull. He loves outdoor adventures or just walks around the neighborhood. Felipe's only drawback is that he doesn't enjoy playing with other dogs. He would much rather spend his time hanging out with you than at the dog park! Felipe is not a big barker...we've actually only heard him bark a few times in months! Felipe has really become a staff and volunteer favorite here at FDR. He is about 3 years old and weighs 50 pounds. He came to us nearly hairless due to his poor diet and living conditions and has made an amazing recovery. As you can see in his photos, he still has some scars on his body where the hair may not grow back...just don't tell him he's slightly bald! We know Felipe may look rough around the edges, but he is really one of the sweetest and easiest dogs in our care. Come meet Felipe today, we know you won't be dissapointed!
Here is what Felipe's temporary foster family had to say about him: “Felipe is a little bit of everything wonderful in one special package. Did someone say PLAY? Felipe is full of spirit, especially if there is a stuffed animal around. Time to CHILL OUT? He loves to cuddle in his bed nearby while you work. He eats with gusto, but left us alone while we were eating our meals. He also seems to have been trained to stay off the furniture, and seems to be mostly housebroken. He was super happy sleeping in his bed at the foot of our bed. He is generally quiet- he hardly barked at all. And he seemed content to be on his own while we were out for up to 4-5 hours at a time; we never heard him bark as we left or returned, and always found him happily hanging out on his bed. Felipe will continue to blossom once he's part of a loving family's routine."
